Susie is an auDHD Scottish poet and English tutor, living in Sheffield.
Her Disabled Poets Prize 2024 winning pamphlet, Nowhere Near As Safe As A Snake In Bed, dealing with living with stage 4 melanoma and the cutting-edge science used to treat it, is out in November with Verve Poetry Press. This will be followed by a limited edition micro-chapbook, Skin The Rabbit, coming out with The Braag as a Free Verse Fair exclusive in Spring 2025.
She has been widely published in magazines, journals and anthologies, with recent work out in Propel, Ink Sweat & Tears, Northern Gravy, forthcoming in Carmen et Error and at the Manchester Poetry Library. Her poems have also had success in competitions and prizes such as the Gloucestershire, Winchester, Cambrian Mountains and Shepton Mallet, Fresher, Poets & Players and The Rialto Nature Competition.
She holds three MAs: English (Oxford, including the Violet Vaughn Morgan Prize for English), Teaching (London) and Creative Writing: Poetry (The Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University) with Distinction.
Her working life has spanned prop-making and Fringe Theatre production, training and practicing as a City lawyer, teaching English (plus Classics and the Extended Project Qualification), teaching teachers of English and now encompasses tutoring anyone on anything they would like to learn, about which she has any clue. She tutors from Y5 to University studies, online.
Susie is currently exploring jazz, drawing and clowning as creative practices alongside writing.
She is an experienced facilitator and mentor.
